jungfrau bahn

The decisive idea for the Jungfrau Railway was finally put forward by Adolf Guyer-Zeller in 1893. The Jungfrau Railway should not begin in the valley but from the summit station of the two month old Wengernalp Railway, at Kleine Scheidegg. An ascent of 1300 metres could be saved, with a considerable reduction in costs.
