elle s’ appelle dalida ( 1956 )

Dalida, de son vrai nom Yolanda Gigliotti, est née au Caire le 17 janvier 1933. Issue d’une famille italienne immigrée en Egypte au début du siècle, elle est la seule fille parmi deux frères, Orlando son aîné et Bruno, le cadet. Leur père, Pietro est violoniste à l’opéra et leur mère, Giuseppina s’occupe de la maisonnée, installée dans le quartier de Choubra, où arabes et occidentaux cohabitent en bonne entente.

If its musical content seemed to be moulded rather closely on the Florodora score, it nevertheless fulfilled the ‘more of the same’ requirements opened by the extravagant success of the earlier show and The Silver Slipper had good runs in the West End and on Broadway, as well as being played in Hungarian in Budapest and in German in Berlin, where it played at the Neues Königliches Opernhaus in repertoire with no less pieces than Der Zigeunerbaron and Der Bettelstudent. Black Mask was a pulp magazine launched in April 1920 by H. L. Mencken and George Jean Nathan to support the loss-making but prestigious literary magazine Smart Set. Mencken was a well-known literary journalist and sometime poet; Nathan a drama critic. Credited as having the best talent writing for a detective pulp, Black Mask included Erle Stanley Gardner, Lester Dent, Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, Norbert Davis, Frederick Davis and more.
